Jim Iyke, a veteran Nollywood actor, has revealed why he doesn’t follow anyone on Instagram, a popular photo and video sharing app.
When he spoke with Temisan, he said,
“I didn’t want to follow anyone on social media from the beginning.” I needed to make it clear that this is a marketplace. It’s a fictitious reality. It’s not something most people desire to do on a daily basis.It’s customised if you see any of my posts. I don’t talk about my family on the internet. I don’t share my delights on social media. Certain things, in my opinion, should be left to one’s own experience.
My life is divided into three strata. I have three lives: one in which I am private, one in which I am public, and one in which I am secret. Social media is a reflection of public life. That is where I should go if I want to make a fashion statement, if I want to make a statement about my ideology and morals, if I want to promote anything, or if I want to change people’s minds about something. I go there if I’m having fun with individuals who don’t mind being on that platform.”He went on to say that he keeps his kids away from social media so that their actions aren’t questioned or witnessed in public.
