“It was a struggle for me to finish school,” says Fireboy DML.

Adedamola Adefolahan, better known by his stage as Fireboy DML, a Nigerian singer-songwriter, has spoken out about how difficult it was for him to graduate while focused on music.The “Vibration” singer claimed that he was a superb student at Obafemi Awolowo University, but that he was divided between his academics and music, which caused a severe drop in his grades.

Fireboy revealed that he had an extra year due to a lack of proper planning and time management, which caused him to fall behind in his academics, in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.

He said: “It was a struggle to finish school.” It was a trying period for me. I had an extra year, but I completed my studies. To be honest, I couldn’t wait to graduate school because I knew I wouldn’t be able to return home after this. I was on my way to Lagos right away.”

“There was a time when my father paid a visit to my school.” Oh, my God! Your father came to school the last year. It was as if he was holding my hand and saying, “Let’s go to your lecturer’s office,” as if I were in secondary school. It was quite embarrassing, and those were particularly challenging days for me.”
