Research and Global Change Description

The Global Change Program, launched in 2023, is a grant initiative designed to assist individuals throughout the world who are leading projects or campaigns that further our goal of putting assembly at the center of efforts to make society more just and equitable.

Climate change, educational access, interstate warfare, public health issues, and data transparency are just a few of the major worries that communities worldwide face. Incite’s Global Change Program supports activists, scholars, organizers, artists, and others working in communities most directly impacted by such issues. GCP helps leaders in these communities lead programs that apply innovative, knowledge-based solutions—derived from academic research and/or personal or community experience—to a specific circumstance.

GCP grantees receive financial assistance ranging from $10,000 to $25,000.Furthermore, Incite intends to support GCP projects via its own network of professors, researchers, and activists. Awardees will stay in the field for the award year while receiving intellectual support from Incite, such as facilitated collaboration with a center or institute of their choice at Columbia University.

In 2023, a GCP pilot grant supported Allison Benson-Hernandez of Re-Imagenemos, an initiative that is fostering the country’s first national-level discussion about inequality through a series of community forums in Colombia. Hundreds of people from various social backgrounds and professional viewpoints worked together during these meetings to create a plan of community-led initiatives to combat inequality. You can find out more about Allison’s GCP grant experience here.
